An ocular foreign body can be any material entrapped on the cornea or conjunctiva.

What is an ocular foreign body?

Most often, it is plant material that can be lavaged from the eye. It is often very painful, and immediate treatment is necessary. If left in place, it can migrate and cause corneal perforation.
